Stoke Lodge is one of the venues where Bristol City Council’s Adult Learning Service courses are delivered. It is a lovely old building just off Shirehampton Road in Stoke Bishop. Lots of creative courses are run from this building.
Creative courses available at Stoke Lodge include: Painting (acrylic, watercolour and oil painting), drawing, upholstery, stained glass, dressmaking, patchwork and quilting, embroidery, jewellery making, felt making, soap stone carving, and digital photography. Some classes are designed for beginners and some for ‘improvers’.
To find out about these courses you can either download a pdf version of the Adult Learning Services brochure (or find one in your local library) or you can search and book courses online. I have found it easier to search online, as this way you can search for courses using a keyword (such as ‘watercolour’). To do this you need to register on the Adult Learning Services website by creating a user name and password. The website can be found at: http://www.adultlearning.bristol.gov.uk/courses. You can also telephone Stoke Lodge on (0117) 903 8844.
Bristol Adult Learning Service tutors also have a great Facebook page. If you ‘like’ this page on Facebook, you will receive regular updates about courses run at Stoke Lodge and other Bristol Adult Learning Service venues, such as St Paul’s Learning Centre.
Many courses at Stoke Lodge run on a term basis and the cost for a term is typically £150 (£75 concessions) for 10 3 hour classes. The centre also runs a number of one-day classes where you can get a taste of a particular course before booking on to a full course.
