Shiney Rocks is a bead shop and jewellery-making venue located in the Brislington area of South Bristol. It is one of two shops run by the Shiney Company – the other being based in Bath.
The Shiney Company was established by Amanda Pickstock and Jane Purdy in 2005. Like many of Bristol’s creative ventures, things began when Amanda took up jewellery-making as a hobby. When she met up with business partner Jane Purdy, the Shiney Company developed into a thriving business, originally located at the Paintworks creative quarter. The Bristol branch of Shiney Rocks has now moved to its new home on Sandy Park Road and is continuing to develop its range of classes, kits and beading supplies.
Shiney Rocks offers a range of jewellery and tiara making classes to suit all ages and skill levels. The classes give you the opportunity to learn beading and wirework techniques in order to create the beautiful and original jewellery pieces designed by Amanda and Jane. Have a look at their website for details of specific classes. They also run parties, including hen parties and children’s parties, with projects to suit your requirements.
If you are new to jewellery-making or looking for some inspiration, Shiney Company offers a range of jewellery and tiara kits with full instructions. Many of these projects, written by Jane and Amanda, have been featured in popular craft, jewellery and sewing magazines (such as Crafts Beautiful, Quick and Crafty, Bead Dazzled, You Can Craft, Beads and Beyond, Make Jewellery, Making Jewellery and Prom and Sew). Shiney Company’s jewellery designs and beads have also been featured in In-Style, Essentials and My Weekly.
Shiney Rocks is an Aladdin’s cave of beads, jewellery-making supplies and equipment. They stock many different kinds of beads, threads, buttons and much more. Shiney Rocks particularly specialise in Swarovski crystal beads, and many of their jewellery designs include these stunning beads. You can purchase items from one of their three shops, or from their on-line shop on the Shiney Rocks website. Shiney Rocks also sell gift vouchers, which make a great gift for a jewellery maker.
As well as offering classes, parties and supplies, Shiney Rocks creates beautiful jewellery for sale in the shop. They also carry out commissions, including commissions for wedding and occasion jewellery. They even have a hire service for tiaras and jewellery.
