So, it’s December and Christmas is definitely coming. I’m not sure how you feel about Christmas, but I have to say that I have mixed feelings about the whole festive season. I’m not a fan of pointless consumption and the inevitable stress experienced by anyone trying to organise Christmas for family and friends. But I do love an excuse for getting creative!
If you enjoy art, craft and design, this is a great time of the year for getting on with some creative projects in the run up to the Christmas celebrations. Here are some things that you might like to do:
• Make your own Christmas Cards
• Make your own wrapping paper
• Make your own Christmas presents
• Make your own Christmas decorations
In other words, instead of buying something mass-produced from a high street shop – make your own unique version of the things that you will need for Christmas.
If you’re not sure where to get started with your creative Christmas projects, never fear. Many of the shops, workshop venues and other creative locations listed on our Places page are running workshops to help you design and produce your own Christmas items. ‘Like’ our Facebook page to receive daily updates on what is happening around Bristol, including news of classes and workshops on handmade Christmas projects.
And don’t forget to visit our Supplies page to find out where to buy your card, glitter, ribbons… and much more.
If you love handmade items, but don’t have the time to make them yourself, check out the shops and galleries around Bristol listed on our Galleries and Exhibition Venues page. Many of them stock cards, decorations and lots of other Christmassy items that have been lovingly handmade by local makers.
